Fantastic Experience

Thank you again for making this adventure come alive as we did a 3 day tour of the D day battlefields in Normandy France.

Thank you so much Ian. Looking forward to meeting you again next year.

Wonderful Tour of the Cotswolds, Devon, and Cornwall.

Thank you so much for all that you done to ensure that we had a wonderful tour of the Cotswolds, Devon, and Cornwall. We would not have seen half as much if we have toured on our own.

Battle of Britain Day

We have been to London many times, and did not know this Battle of Britain bunker was there. Brilliant experience! I was standing in the spot where Churchill stood during the battle. We than travelled on to Bletchley park which is another outstanding experience, I learned so much in there, you could spend half a day in there on its own. As an enthusistic follower of WWII what a great experience and day out. Thank you Ian and Travel England Tours.

Wales/James Herriot Experience Our tour was suggested to us by Old Sod Travel based on our combined interests with emphasis on seeing the Welsh countryside of some of our ancestors , James Herriot country (as we had 3 veterinarians in our group) and botanical gardens. Our group was a group of 6 long time friends (more than 40 years) ranging in age from 65 to 83. None of us felt comfortable driving in the UK, so we decided to hire a private driver for our 6 days in Wales/Yorkshire Dales. There are some in our group with mobility issues, so we wanted to keep walking to a minimum. And we needed a vehicle to accommodate 6 people with luggage. Our travel included pick up at the Manchester airport on arrival day and travel to Wales with a stop at Llangollen Wharf for a horse drawn canal ride and then delivery to our beautiful hotel in Llandudno (Saint George Hotel). We were there for 3 nights. The next day we took a beautiful trip on the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland narrow gauge steam train from Carnaerfon to Porthmadog. The train made several stops with opportunities to take pictures of the surrounding countryside and Snowdownia. Our last day in Wales we saw Harlech Castle and Carnaerfon Castle which included the Royal Welsh Fusiliers Museum. Then onward to the Yorkshire Dales with a stop and tour at the York Minster Cathedral and delivery to our hotel The West Park Hotel in Harrogate. It happened to be a bank holiday (there are 3 in the UK) and things were very busy. The hotel restaurant and staff were quite overwhelmed and there was loud music in the courtyard until almost 10 pm that night. Things were much calmer for the next 2 nights. The next day included a tour of Dales Countryside Museum and the Wensleydale Creamery with a very entertaining cheese making demonstration and cheese sampling. The evening included a stroll through the Harlow Carr Garden in Harrogate. The next day was a trip to the town of Thirsk and the James Herriot experience. After that a stop in the picturesque town of Grassington and a stop for lunch at the Devonshire Pub and a short walk around the town. Back in Harrogate a short walk to Betty’s Tea House for a Fat Rascal scone with cream and jam finished our day. The next day our driver, Ian, delivered us to Edinburgh. It was about a 4 hour drive and he made a stop at a rest station around the halfway point. We said goodbye to our driver after we were delivered to the Hotel Du Vin in the old town portion of Edinburgh. Ian was always on time and got us as close to where we were going as possible (to eliminate extra walking). He communicated so well and we were frequently in contact through WatsApp. He made several helpful suggestions on how to organize our day when we weren’t sure about the best order to do things. He provided some discussions on history but we really enjoyed learning some new British vocabulary! We were delivered on time, safely and in good cheer (except for some jet lag on our part and some mornings feeling rushed after breakfast). But a schedule was necessary to see all that we saw! I’m ending my review here and will review our wonderful stay in Edinburgh in another section, as this is pretty long! Cheers and happy travels to all!

D DAY AND NORMANDY IN DEPTH TOUR The Normandy tour was a real eye opener. We visited sites that really made one appreciate the scale, effort and sacrifice that was required to make successful landings. Ian was very knowledgable regarding the war sites and giving an overview of the whole battle front. The scale of the area covered on the tour was very impressive. Covering historical events I was not even aware of. Would recommend this tour and guide wholeheartedly. I was very impressed

Everything from the start to the end of the tour was very well organised and operated on a very professional manner. The tour guide Ian was extremely knowledgeable regarding the history and overall overview of the battlefields and the war itself. The organisation of accommodation, access to sites and travel between areas was exemplary, nothing was a problem Looking forward to my next tour

Excellent tour in a beautiful area of the UK I took a 6 day tour of South West England with two others and had an excellent experience. Ian was very prompt, knowledgeable of the area and its history and created an upfront itinerary which he adapted to our individual preferences. The car and ride was comfortable with bottled water on hand. A truly great experience in a most beautiful part of the country. We will definitely use Travel England Tours for future trips in the UK.

Stratford-Upon-Avon, Chester, York, Durham, Bamburgh, New Castle (Thanks Ian and Dean!!!!) Great trip and excellent traveling with Ian. The history, food, and views were fantastic! Ian got us safely from one point to another, and was a lot of fun! When traveling, it is great to know about the area and the best places to go. Travel England Tours definitely has great recommendations and gives you the freedom you want when traveling while being at your service. We really enjoyed Ian and also the new places on our adventure. Ian definitely looks out for you and has a great passion for what he does and his business! Cheers! Our second part of England was with Dean. We got to see so much of the beautiful countryside and explore the history of Hadrian's Wall. We made it to Bebbanburg, a.k.a Bamburgh Castle! A must-see for "Last Kingdom" fans! Dean took us to some great spots and pointed out a Chippy in Durham, where we had the best Fish n' Chips ever, and a great little Italian Spot in Hexham! We finished up in New Castle, which is easily one of our favorites. Cheers!

You can't go wrong with Travel England and Ian Ian was wonderful from start to finish. I was able to make adjustments that suited our group to the 5 day Cornwall and Devon tour, and once we were on the tour we were able to adjust for weather and time without problem. Ian was a terrific and solicitous guide and accommodated all our needs. He was also incredibly knowledgable about the region and we saw so much! If we vacation again in the areas he serves we will certainly book with him again.
